Tribal chic home office space in small apartment

Can you have a tribal chic home office in a small apartment? You can if you choose the right designers.

Within a small open plan, all spaces necesarry were gathered under the same color scheme. Wood and concrete, punctured by natural materials seen in the decor, compose an inviting, lightly colored space. Each function flows into the next and creates an overall feeling of spaciousness.

Designed by Li Jun Chen, this small studio apartment boasts soft African vibes woven in the modern design. Tribal decor pieces complete the grey and white background. Soft wickerwork, jute and leather complete a very nature-inspired contemporary design.

Organic handmade accessories line the office desk built into the concrete that serves as furniture, as well as any concrete ledge, in an atempt to soften its rough look.

Bespoke concrete shapes built a furniture base – the desk, the sofa, the bed frame. Bringing in an industrial feeling with all the concrete, natural materials contrast the coldness and soften the edgy grey concrete.

A lack of walls encourages the space to be flooded with natural light, and the chosen color palette acts as a reflector of light, making the whole ambiance light, refreshing and inviting.

Two sisal mats make the concrete floor look warmer for all the feet that can fit in this living room – on the sofa or occupying the grey Moroccan leather pouffe.

There are deep black accents everywhere, adding depth to the space: the coffee table’s legs, the desk chair’s frame, the modern desk lap, the big round mirror, the black decorative lantern.

A huge monstera plant near the window adds green mysticism to this elongated space, making it feel like a very airy, functional design. Details make this space feel much bigger than it is. For example, the slope of the bathtub faces the other way from the workspace, letting the owner mentally disconnect from work.
